~~All right, here's a finished request for , a request of my namesake, Holly Black's Roiben! ^_^ Oh, I this guy! Anyways, for those of you who have not read Tithe, here's a little rundown of what's going on...
"Kaye stopped on the stairwell, stunned as the utter impossibility of the scene crashed up against the utter normalcy of it. The television was on, and its flickering blue light sharpened Roiben's features until she couldn't tell whether he still wore his glamour. He was drizzling pieces of plain, white bread with honey from the jar, thick amber puddles of it that he as much poured into his mouth as ate."
~~If that still confuses some people...and it might, I'll also explain that Roiben is one of the Fae so the fact that he's sitting on a couch watching TV seems just odd.... Yeah, I realise that I didn't add in the blue light reflecting off of his features but I may add that in later. Also, it's in the morning, so I just tried to show the morning light shining through the window behind the TV... I dunno'... I was really proud with how well his face turned out, I've always had trouble drawing faces from this angle, so Yay! And I'm really happy with how his hair turned out. I was skeptical at first, but I'm quite delighted with it now! So, yeah, enjoy! ^_^
P.S. Yeah, I realise his waist is a little too narrow. Still have problems with that...need to work on that... T_T
Roiben does not belong to me. He, and the paragraph of description is property of Holly Black!
Wow very nice piece! The hair came out really well, it has alot of natural flow and volume to it, can see you spent time on the perfecting the details. Also really like the facial expression, never read the books but i can get a pretty good idea of the characters personality just by looking at his face. The background and loaf of bread in the lower corner were awesome touches as well. Great job yet again
~~Heh heh! Yeah, you'd think it would bother him... It's such a good book! ~~Vectors?? I've heard of them but I don't know quite what they are.... *curious*
Vectors use mathematical points instead of pixels to make an image. You can scale an image up or down indefinitely without losing quality. You can draw with them like anything else, but they always have a hard edge. Think Flash and Adobe Illustrator.
Your style uses flat planes of color and solid lines, which has a very graphical vector feel to it. You can also get perfect blends of color with gradients and some spiffy glows and blurs.

I wish today was tomorrow and tomorrow was yesterday.
Does that mean I wish today was today?
This picture has a really statuesque feel to it. Have you ever tried drawing with vectors? I think they would lend greatly to your style. :3
